Limited edition fine art print of 6 – In the fall of 2023, I was on assignment to shoot a documentary on the Southern Resident Killer Whales. Part of that trip was gathering behind-the-scenes footage and telling a deeper story about the region. Many of our days were spent out on San Juan Island looking for orca. One particularly foggy morning, we decided to head into a seaside forest to get a different view of the island. The fog was so thick we could barely see the water 20 feet away. Instead of worrying about the fog, I turned the camera inland and captured some of my favorite forest images of my entire collection. There is something about a foggy forest that triggers something mystical inside us.  Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
