Limited edition fine art print of 6 – In the fall of 2023, I was on assignment to shoot a documentary on the Southern Resident Killer Whales. Part of that trip was gathering behind-the-scenes footage and telling a deeper story about the region. We found ourselves near Portland to interview a salmon specialist. Autumn was just about to hit peak color, so I had to make a short trip to one of my favorite waterfalls. Multnomah Falls just outside of Portland, is a very famous and incredibly beautiful waterfall. I wanted to use a dark filter over the lens to blur the water coming down the falls. Even in mid-day, this created a stunning effect, and the surrounding colors really popped under the overcast, rainy sky.  Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
