Limited edition fine art print of 6 – The Drake Hotel in Chicago has been a symbol of luxury since 1920. Notable names such as Winston Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan all visited The Drake at one point. With its old Chicago charm, the drake has changed hands several times over the years but, to this day, remains relevant in Chicago’s upper-class accommodations. My concept was to focus deeply on the pronounced sign above the building using a telephoto lens. Behind The Drake stands the Palmolive building, giving an illusion The Drake continues vertically. The whole composition screams of an industrial bustling time long ago. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
