Limited edition fine art print of 6 – Winter in Chicago can be harsh. I woke early one morning to teach a photography class on the lakefront in -15-degree temperatures. It is the kind of weather where you wonder why you even got out of bed, but then a scene like this unfolds, and you remember instantly. Despite my freezing hands, I found some interesting foreground elements and used them to paint a beautiful scene. The deep purplish colors split by the golden lights of the city make for a beautiful, rich portrait of Chicago’s skyline along the lakefront. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
