Dallas Divide

Limited edition fine art print of 6 – I was unprepared for fall’s beauty in Telluride, Colorado. When I booked this photography trip, I knew the colors were supposed to be beautiful. Each day, from the moment I arrived, the colors kept getting better and better. After a few days of dealing with terrible car troubles in the mountains, I was returning to Telluride across the Dallas Divide when the sunset began to develop. I was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to return home, have a cocktail, and put my feet up. But the sky kept getting more incredible. I knew a few photography spots in the area by then, but I wanted a spectacular image from this location. I wandered off to a secret location at the scenic turnout, set up my camera, and watched the epic light show unfold before my eyes. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
