Milford Sound attracts visitors from around the world to its majestic fjords. It is New Zealand’s top tourist attraction. Most visitors head straight out to the water, see the beautiful peaks then leave. However, if time allows a hike in the surrounding forest can be just as rewarding. Because Milford Sound sees 252 inches of rain annually, the areas forests are lush dense green. The air is so clean and pure here without the proximity of towns or cities. Its glacially formed peaks are the areas main attraction for a very good reason, they are flat out beautiful. In any lighting condition these mountains of the sound antagonize photographers to never put their cameras away.Â
