Angkor Wat, Cambodia is the largest religious complex in the world. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple, this 402-acre complex now serves as a Buddhist temple converted somewhere around the 12th century. Serving as the capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Wat is a great symbol of national pride for Cambodians. It can be seen on the nations flag since 1863. The walls of the great temples are filled with historical and religious depictions of great battles or god and goddesses from ancient times. Devatas as the one show here can be seen throughout the temple spiritualizing the complexes Hindu origins.
